Privacy Policy

Devon Self Storage Privacy Policy

Effective Date: November 12, 2016.

This Privacy Policy (“Policy”) governs the terms and conditions under which you (“User”,

“Client” or “you”) are permitted to access or use Devon Self Storage’s (“DSS”) website at

www.devonselfstorage.com (the “Website”).

We have adopted this Policy which guides how we collect, store and use the information

you provide online. Please note that this Policy applies only to sites maintained by DSS, and not

to websites maintained by other companies or organizations to which we link. This Policy does

not apply to “offline” activities or activities unrelated to the Policy unless otherwise expressly

stated herein.

By accessing and using the Website, User accepts and agrees to be legally bound by this

Policy. If User does not agree with all of the terms of this Policy, User must discontinue access to

and use of the Site. The terms and conditions below are incorporated by reference into the

Transaction Terms and Conditions of users of DSS’s products and services.

When you link to another Website, you are no longer on this Website and this Policy does

not apply. When you link to another website, you are subject to the privacy policy of that new site.

When DSS is contracted to submit a website to search engines, some Personally Identifiable

Information may be required by such services. For example: contact’s name, company’s name,

email, website address, etc. DSS is in no way responsible for how this information is used beyond

this point.

Information We Collect From You

In order to serve you in the best way possible, DSS asks for specific personal information.

This personal information is referred to as “Personally Identifiable Information”. For example, you

may provide DSS with Personally Identifiable Information when you fill out our Contact form,

reserve a storage unit, enter into a rental agreement, make payments on your account, and/or apply

for a job with DSS. In general, we receive and store any Personally Identifiable Information you

provide via our website. This includes information that can identify you, including but not limited

to your first and last name, telephone numbers, postal address, email address, social security

number, driver’s license number, birth date, credit card information, account number, any

information in a job application, and any other information you choose to provide to DSS to

identify yourself.

To the extent DSS is the entity offering the services for purchase, when you make a

purchase through the Site, we may collect your credit card number or other payment account

number, billing address and other information related to such purchase (collectively “Payment

Information”) from you. We will use the Payment Information that you provide to bill you for your

purchase and to fulfill your purchase. By providing your Payment Information, you are authorizing

us to give that information to third parties as necessary to confirm and fulfill your order (for

example, to process your credit card or payment account number and to send you a rental contract

with the applicable company from whom you have rented storage space).

When you visit this Website, we also automatically collect some non-Personally

Identifiable Information about your device such as: your Internet Protocol Address and domain

name used but not the email address; the type of browser and operating system you used; the date

and time you visited this website; the web pages or services you accessed at this Website and the

website you visited prior to coming to this one. These items simply help us understand what is

important to our website visitors and do not personally identifies you to anyone.

DSS also reserves the right to compile, save, use within the scope of our activities, and

analyze any and all data (contact and personal data, use history, etc.) that we collect from you

through the Website. We use the Personally Identifiable Information that you provide to us for our

internal purposes such as responding to your requests for information, contacting you, conducting

internal analyses, and processing and completing orders and event registrations. We also use your

Personally Identifiable Information to communicate with you, such as, for example, to provide you

with newsletters, press releases, membership information, or information relating to programs or

activities that may be of interest to you.

We may also collect and group demographic and preferences information, responses to

surveys and other Personally Identifiable Information that we collect from you into an aggregate,

non-personally identifiable form for disclosure to our existing or potential business partners,

affiliates, sponsors or other third parties. This aggregate data does not personally identify you or

any other visitors to the Website.

We may also collect general, non-personal, statistical information about the use of the

Website, such as how many visitors visit a specific page on the Website, how long they stay on

that page and which hyperlinks, if any, they “click” on. We collect this information through the

use of “web beacons” or other tracking technologies, which are discussed in greater detail below.

We collect this information in order to determine which areas of the Website are most popular and

to enhance the Website for visitors. As with other aggregated data, we may disclose such data to

our existing or potential business partners, affiliates, sponsors or other third parties, but this

aggregate data does not personally identify you or any other visitors to the Website.

With respect to all communications that User makes to DSS, including but not limited to

feedback, questions, comments, suggestions and the like, and with regard to patterns of usage by

the User (such as links accessed): (a) User shall have no right of confidentiality in its

communications and DSS shall have no obligation to protect User’s communications from

disclosure; (b) DSS shall be free to reproduce, use, disclose and distribute User’s communications

without limitation; and (c) DSS shall be free to use any ideas, concepts, know-how, content or

techniques contained in User’s communications for any purpose whatsoever, including but not

limited to the development, production and marketing of products and services that incorporate

such information.

How We Use Your Information

This information will only be used in direct conjunction with your account and web site

needs. We will not sell or intentionally distribute Personally Identifiable Information to any

sources outside DSS.

We use information about you for the following general purposes:

  • to provide you with the products and services you request;
  • to communicate with you in general;
  • to respond to your questions and comments;
  • to measure interest in and improve our products, services, and website;
  • to notify you about special offers and products or services that may be of interest to you;
  •  to otherwise customize your experience with this Website;
  • to solicit information from you, including surveys; to resolve disputes or troubleshoot problems;
  • to prevent potentially prohibited or illegal activities;
  • to create and manage your account; respond to individual inquiries; and
  • as otherwise described to you at the point of collection.

How We Share Your Information

DSS often contracts with third-party vendors to provide services for DSS, including, but

not limited to maintaining this website, mailing lists, collect payments, and deliver information

and services to customers. These third-party vendors have access to and may collect Personally

Identifiable Information you provided to DSS only as needed to perform their functions and are

not permitted to share or use the information for any other purpose.

We also may share your information:

  1. In response to subpoenas, court orders, or other legal process; to establish or exercise our

legal rights; to defend against legal claims; or as otherwise required by law. In such cases we

reserve the right to raise or waive any legal objection or right available to us.

  1. When we believe it is appropriate to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal

or suspected illegal activities; to protect and defend the rights, property, or safety of our company

or this website, our customers, or others; and in connection with our Terms of Use and other

agreements.

  1. In connection with a corporate transaction, such as a divestiture, merger, consolidation, or

asset sale, or in the unlikely event of bankruptcy.

Other than as set out above, you will be notified when Personally Identifiable Information

about you will be shared with third parties, and you will have an opportunity to choose not to have

us share such information. Unless you have authorized us to do so, we will not disclose Personally

Identifiable Information to third-parties who may want to offer you their own products and

services.

Cookies, Pixel Tags and Web Beacons

We and our third party service providers may use a standard technology called a “cookie”

to collect information about how you use the Website. Cookies reside on your computer and help

the Website recognize your computer’s browser as a previous visitor. On occasion our Website

may also set a “session cookie” which helps us administer the Website. The session cookie expires

when you close your browser and does not retain any information about you after it expires. If you

do not want information collected through the use of cookies, you should be able to modify your

browser preference to provide you with choices relating to cookies. If you choose to reject cookies,

you may be unable to use certain Website services (e.g., those services that require you to log on

to the Site in order to participate).

We and our service providers may also use so-called “pixel tags,” “web beacons,” “clear

GIFs” or similar means (collectively, “Pixel Tags”) in connection with some Website pages and

HTML-formatted email messages to track your use of our Website in order to provide you with

more useful information and a more personalized experience the next time you visit. Pixel Tags

do not contain any Personally Identifiable Information and allow us to count users who have visited

certain pages of the Website, to deliver branded services, and to help determine the effectiveness

of promotional or advertising campaigns. When used in HTML-formatted email messages, Pixel

Tags can tell the sender whether and when an email has been opened.

Security of Information and Disclosures

While DSS takes security measures to help safeguard your Personally Identifiable

Information from unauthorized access and disclosure, you should be aware that it is impossible to

guarantee absolute security with respect to information sent through the Internet. Accordingly, we

do not guarantee that any and all safeguards that we use to protect your Personally Identifiable

Information will work.

Responding to Do Not Track Signals

DSS does not currently respond or take any action regarding “Do Not Track” requests.

Except as provided in this Policy, our Website does not allow any other parties to collect Personally

Identifiable Information about your online activities over time or across different websites when

using this website.

Transactions with E-Commerce Partners, Vendors and Advertisers.

When you provide Personally Identifiable Information to one of our Website’s e-commerce

partners, vendors or advertisers, this transaction will occur in connection with the site of the ecommerce partner, vendor or advertiser, not on the Website, and, as such, the information you

provide is collected pursuant to and controlled by the privacy policy of such e-commerce partner,

vendor or advertiser. DSS is not responsible for such parties’ privacy policies and we encourage

you to familiarize yourself with the applicable privacy policy of the e-commerce site with which

you transact business or to contact the operator of such site for more information.

Subsequent Change to the Policy

DSS reserves the right to change or otherwise modify the terms and conditions of this

Policy without prior notice at any time.

Should this Policy be changed, DSS will notify visitors of the updated Policy, post the

updated Policy on this website, and the Effective Date listed at the top of this Policy shall reflect

the date of the most recent change. DSS also reserves the right to contact you in the event of a

change in the Website’s Terms of Use and/or this Privacy Policy, or to notify you of other

administrative matters in connection with the Website (e.g., contacting you to facilitate, complete

or confirm a transaction). Because this information may be important to your use of the Website,

you may not opt-out of receiving such communications. Your continued access or use of this

Website signifies your acceptance of the updated or modified Policy.

Children’s Privacy

DSS does not knowingly collect, use, maintain, process or disclose Personally Identifiable

Information from anyone under the age of 13. If DSS becomes aware that any child under the age

of 13 has provided Personally Identifiable Information through the use of this website, DSS will

delete such information from its files.
